Making Monday: Pumpkin Goo
Over the weekend we cut and boiled and scrapped out the pumpkins from the garden and one from the co-op to make ourselves pumpkin goo to freeze for the year. Last year our pumpkin goo went into lots of pumpkin bars, pumpkin pancakes, and at least one patch of pumpkin brownies. We are looking very forward to all of the pumpkin goodies in our future.

Fed and Be Feed
Infinite recently hung an art piece for a show called Fed and Be Feed at Intermedia Arts. It is now open to the public, and if you are in the Twin Cities you should come out and take a look. There is a focus on interactive art, so be ready to think and participate, even if it is just writing something down.

Mittens!
While in Chile we bought some gorgeous blue hand spun and dyed yarn, local to the area. Monster recently finished up knitting these mitten that are meant to be shared and loved for the coming winter months.
For fun I wrapped them up and left them as a present on the bed even though everyone knew they were being knit and had been finished. It was fun to sit together and open a pretty package anyways though.

Making Monday: T-Shirt Quilt
Monster's little brother recently went off to college, and in his trail left a pile of t-shirts. And so a T-shirt quilt was to be made! The most exciting part of this T-shirt quilt was the inclusion on a button down, that can still be unbuttoned and used as a pocket.

We went to a corn husking party last weekend which involved shucking corn and braiding the husks together in order to hang the corn and dry it. It twas much fun.

Molly's Project
Molly came over with a bag of cut paint chips and four white canvases, and a project ensued. She knew she wanted colors and most likely a fade, but she wasn't sure about any of the rest of it. We think she's got a good handle on it now and final product pictures look to be on the horizon.

Making Monday: Apple Tarts
We still had some apples left, from our apple picking adventure, and I have been scheming how to best put them to use. Saturday morning I woke, with the idea of apple tarts made in muffin tins. We used Betty Crocker's pie crust recipe, but put in whole wheat flour instead of all purpose and I ended up starting with an apple tart recipe, but added some sugar and cinnamon to sweeten them up. They turned out beautifully and delicious.

Midtown Farmer's Market
The Midtown Farmer's Market is located Lake Street at Hiawatha. It has some of the best apples I have ever tasted, locally grown. It is open Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Check it out before the end of the October when it closes for the season.

Fall
Fall has hit Minneapolis with a brisk wind. The leafs are all changing or have already fallen, and winter accessories are out. Waiting for the bus has become an adventure of finding a spot with the most wind protection. Also out in full force are cool weather foods, pie, soup, and chili here we come.

Alphabet Project
We have started taking pictures for our Alphabet project on Lake Street. We are trying to take pictures of things the kids are familiar with. The examples above are a bus and fruit, both which are also cognates in English and Spanish.

Apples = Apple Pie
We went to an apple orchard this weekend. Four pounds of self-picked apples, hay ride, apple cider, veggie burgers, apple doughnuts, corn maze, and a happy baby. It was great fun and the apples shall make pies.
