Calm

Two of the few things that bring me calm in the world, art and nature.  Today is the last day to prepare for student arrival on Monday.  I am going to need all of the calm I can get.

Pickling!

I am trying my hand at pickling, I decided that the only way I was really going to do it was taking the simplest way. So I used a super simple brine pickling recipe I got from a craft museum in San Fransisco, and I have my fingers crossed.

Making Monday: ...

Well here we are, today marks the end of summer vacation for us, and after just getting home, it feels like reality has caught up with us a little. Because of all that I have no photos to show you all of the beautiful making up our lives right now, and so a list is in order:

-We baked vegan chocolate chip cookies and brought four of them to the State Fair, to compete as "Balled, Not Flattened Before Baking" cookies
-We used some leftover yarn to make a small weaving to hang on the wall
-We worked on the website for the summer camp we both are counselors at and sit on the board for.
-We also had a meeting for the above mentioned camp and made quite a few large decisions for next summer
-Our kickstarter project was not funded
-We got asked the be photographers for the wedding of two friends
-One of our mothers successfully sold their house
-We made watermelon lemonade
-We found rain gardens and befriended a security guard

Chile Fruit

Climbing a cherimoya tree in Chile.  Cherimoya is one of the sweetest fruits I have ever tasted.  We don't believe it exists anywhere in the northern hemisphere.

Making Monday: Road Trip Hat

We went on a road trip to Wisconsin and I worked on a hat, I tried to take photos along the way to document it's travel through the hills, all the while growing, but these two photos are all I ended up with. It is done now though, and looks very nice.

We went to Vali-Hi, hurray for the drive in movies!
We saw Spiderman, and Men in Black III, both of which were classic summer movie choices and fun in their own rights.

Rocket(s)

I recently embroidered a rocket ship to the back of a a plain coral colored t-shirt.
It turned out quite well.
