Making Monday: CAKE!

We made a very simple yellow cake this weekend, with vanilla frosting. It was so simple that I managed to make at least one mistake in almost every step. The real kicker of the mess ups was adding 3.5 tbsp of powdered sugar instead of 3.5 tsp of baking powder. All mistakes where caught and the cake ended quite well, with a celebratory decoration, reminding us that we are, in fact, functioning people. Hurray for cake, celebrations, and fixed mistakes.

Making Monday: "Hello" cards

I have been working on a series of Hello cards. I designed a pattern for myself and have been knitting the little signs using sock yarn remnants, and then gluing them onto card stock. They look quite quite and will soon be on the etsy shop!

Skating in the Parks

We went ice skating at Matthews Park last weekend, and had a blast. They provide free ice skates and a free rink so we decided why not? The system is quite simple, there is a table, there are skates on the table, everyone is expected to be a good person, and use skates in their size, and then put them back on the table nicely. I managed to fall straight down onto my butt right away but that was the only slip, the rest of the outing went much more gracefully.

Matthews Park isn't the only ice rink check out mpls parks website for more info.

The Vegan Adventure Part 1

We have decided to commit to one month of being vegan, and February is the lucky month. We have been starting to slowly take out eggs, butter and milk, to prep ourselves. The hardest thing to cut out will be cheese, no more twice baked potatoes, grilled cheese sandwiches, or tacos with cheese. The hunt is now on for good vegan recipes, and restaurants that are vegan friendly, so if you have suggestions let us know!
